Palm Beach Opera Opens Season with New Concert and Offers Free Tickets to Local Organizations

Palm Beach Opera presents “A night of…Rising Stars & Classic Melodies” at Kravis Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m., and provides over 500 free tickets to many of its collaborative organizations, such as local schools, medical centers, arts organizations and other non-profit organizations in the community.

The first mainstage event of Palm Beach Opera’s 2018-2019 season, “A night of…Rising Stars & Classic Melodies” is a new initiative to feature singers from the company’s Benenson Young Artist and Apprentice Artist programs, with a special guest appearance by renowned mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe.

Accompanied by a full orchestra, the one-night-only event will feature opera’s greatest hits and Broadway favorites, showcasing the rising talent of Palm Beach Opera’s artists in residence. Audiences can expect to hear the classic works of Mozart, Verdi, Bizet, and Puccini, as well as Broadway songs from hit musicals “Gypsy” and “Camelot.”

As part of the company’s continued commitment to impact the community, Palm Beach Opera is also offering free concert tickets to local nonprofit organizations, teachers, students, aspiring young musicians, homeless service providers, veterans and other community members. More than 500 free tickets have been provided so far.

West Palm Beach VA Medical Center, The Senator Philip D. Lewis Center, Florida Atlantic University, Lake Worth Middle, The Learning Academy and the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County are among the participating organizations.

“Through this initiative, we hope to enhance the quality of life of our community, inspire life-long interest in the arts, and further support our arts-thriving community by providing a special opportunity to experience emerging singers on the brink of stardom,” said Managing Director David Walker.

Nonprofit organizations, service members, veterans, firefighters and law enforcement officials can request free tickets by visiting pbopera.org/ticket-request.
