Palm Beach Opera’s Three-Tiered Artist Training

During the 2016-2017 season, Palm Beach Opera increased its commitment to training the next generation of artists by introducing a three-tiered structured program, where young opera talent is nurtured at every level, making it one of the few such initiatives in the country. Graduates of the Palm Beach Opera’s rigorous artist training programs have embarked on successful careers in major opera houses all over the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, Washington National Opera, Opéra National de Paris, Vienna State Opera, and Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Palm Beach Opera’s Artist Training Programs

Palm Beach Opera Studio

Palm Beach Opera Studio is a free eight-month training program designed for high school students interested in singing opera. Participants students receive vocal coaching, participate in masterclasses, and attend sessions on vocal pedagogy, diction, opera history, stagecraft, and audition techniques.

BAILEY APPRENTICE ARTIST PROGRAM

The Apprentice Artists are Palm Beach Opera’s community ambassadors, performing throughout the region in education and community concerts, as well as adding strength to mainstage production choruses. During their five-month residency, the Apprentice Artists further their artistic development through regular coaching with the PBO music staff and guest faculty.

YOUNG ARTIST PROGRAM

The Benenson Young Artist Program is designed for emerging professional artists and serves as a stepping stone to a successful career as an opera singer. During their five-month residency, Guided by esteemed guest faculty and PBO artistic staff, Benenson Young Artists develop and polish essential performance skills, appear on the mainstage in supporting roles, cover leading roles, and perform in special events throughout the community.
