Discovery Series: I CAPULETI E I MONTECCHI

  1. What is the Discovery Series? Palm Beach Opera’s Discovery Series provides a unique opportunity to hear opera’s hidden gems at South Florida’s favorite venues. Experience the music of treasured operas through emotional vocal performances and the raw power of a live, intimate orchestra in semi-staged and unamplified performances.
  2. What is this season’s Discovery Series performance? This season, Palm Beach Opera’s Discovery Series presents I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Vincenzo Bellini’s sensuous bel canto opera based on the celebrated tale of Romeo and Juliet. Featuring a romantic story and poetic orchestrations, I Capuleti e i Montecchi presents the star-crossed lovers and feuding families in a whole new light.
  3. Will the performance be outdoors? In order to ensure the safety and well-being of our patrons, artists, and staff, PBO will be presenting the opera outdoors at the Norton Museum of Art‘s Sculpture Garden.
  4. Who is performing? The performance will feature members of PBO’s Benenson Young Artist and Apprentice Artist programs and eight members of the Palm Beach Opera Orchestra.
  5. How long is the opera and will there be an intermission? The run time for the opera is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes and includes one 25-minute intermission.
  6. What health and safety precautions are in place for Discovery Series performers and patrons? Masks are required for entry and during the performance, temperature checks are required for admission and will be administered by the Norton Museum staff, and restrooms will be limited. Singers and musicians will be distanced on stage and audience pods will be socially distanced.
  7. Will the performance be amplified? No, the performance will not be amplified.
  8. Will there be a set? No, there will not be a set, but the performance will be semi-staged and will feature lighting design.
  9. How, when, and where can I buy tickets? Tickets will be available to purchase on March 11 at pbopera.org.
  10. How much are tickets? General admission is $45 and premium seating is $100. Tickets are sold out!
  11. What is the dress code? The dress code is cocktail attire, but we encourage patrons to dress comfortably. The Sculpture Garden is located outdoors and features grassy terrain.
  12. Where do I park? Parking is available in the Norton’s main parking lot at 1501 South Dixie Highway, immediately across the street from the Museum. Parking is $5 per car, per day. Norton Members park for free. Museum staff are available to assist with the pay kiosks. Accessible parking is available in the main lot, as well as in the drop-off circle adjacent to the Museum entrance, on the corner of South Dixie Highway and Jefferson Road. All restrooms are fully accessible.  Manual wheelchairs are available at reception on a first-come, first-served basis and are sanitized between uses.
