One of the most in-demand singers of her generation, soprano Lisette Oropesa regularly appears at the world’s leading opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Royal Opera House, Opéra national de Paris, and Vienna State Opera. Having recently headlined as Maria Stuarda at the Salzburg Festival to sensational reviews, Oropesa will return to the Met this season to star in the New Year’s Eve premiere of Bellini’s I puritani, with a worldwide broadcast on January 10 – her tenth Live in HD broadcast with the company. Her performances this season also include Roméo et Juliette in Berlin, Manon in Zurich, La traviata in Munich and at the Met, I puritani in London, and Norma at the Savonlinna Festival.
Of Cuban heritage, Oropesa grew up in New Orleans and rose to prominence as a Grand Finals winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, followed by a residency in the company’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. Among her accolades are several of the industry’s most prestigious honors, from the Richard Tucker Award, to the Met’s Beverly Sills Award, to multiple prizes at Plácido Domingo’s Operalia Competition. A dazzling recitalist, she has given sold-out concerts at both Teatro alla Scala and Carnegie Hall, and makes her Palm Beach debut at the 2026 Gala.
