Children’s Performance, our flagship education program, is a unique behind-the-scenes, storytelling adventure for children, families and caregivers to experience the magic of opera!
This season, Children’s Performance will feature a 60-minute abridged version of Rossini’s The Barber of Seville performed by Palm Beach Opera’s Benenson Young Artists and Apprentice Artists.
Sung in Italian with English narration and supertitles projected above the stage, this iconic opera will be made complete with beautiful costumes, lively narration, and a full orchestra.
Experience Education Stations, a behind-the-curtain look at opera, and cast meet-and-greets!
Palm Beach Opera’s Children’s Performance is a sensory-friendly integrated performance.
Audience members with sensory sensitivities are offered seating convenient to aisles and exits and access to a Break Space that can be used at any point during your trip to the opera. Inside the theater, lights will be dimmed and the singing will be unamplified, but the opera may include amplified narration. A timeline of events is provided which outlines the narration points, scene changes, and other potential sensory triggers.
Palm Beach Opera is happy to provide preparatory materials including Parent/Chaperone Information, a pre-visit book “My Trip to the Opera,” an event map, and a pre-visit video. Email Abbey Ward for more information.
Palm Beach Opera offers Sponsored Tickets for Children’s Performance to Title I Schools and non-profit organizations with programs dedicated to under-served youth. Through Sponsored Tickets, these groups can experience the magic of opera at no cost to them through the generous support of our ticket sponsors.
