Children’s Performance, our flagship education program, brings together children, families and caregivers from throughout the community to experience the magic of opera! In 2016, Children’s Performance will feature a 60-minute, abridged version of Donizetti’s comic opera Don Pasquale, made complete with striking sets, beautiful costumes, lively narration, and full orchestra!

What you’ll experience at Children’s Performance:

  • Education Stations are available before the show to teach eager learners about opera and music: how do those instruments in the orchestra actually work? How do opera singers sing so loudly?  What piece of art can you create when you’re inspired by opera?
  • Not only do audience members enjoy the performance on stage, they also find out what happens behind the curtain!
  • The curtain remains open between acts so that the set, prop, and light changes are visible.
  • Palm Beach Opera crew interacts with the audience, narrating the story and highlighting elements of the creative process.
  • Audience members can meet with the artists after the performance for autographs.

Children’s Performance is a sensory friendly integrated presentation.
Braille programs are available upon request.

SENSORY FRIENDLY

Palm Beach Opera’s Children’s Performance is a sensory friendly integrated performance.

Audience members with sensory sensitivities are offered seating convenient to aisles and exits. You have access to a Break Space which may be used at any point during your trip to the opera. Inside the theater, lights will be dimmed and the singing will be unamplified. The opera will be narrated in English and the narration will be amplified. A timeline of events is provided which outlines the narration points, scene changes, and other potential sensory triggers. Comfort tools and ear buds are provided and volunteers will be available to provide assistance as needed.

Prepare for your trip to the opera:
