About Anna Netrebko
Throughout an illustrious career beginning in 1994, Anna Netrebko has become a reigning prima donna of the 21st century. Either as the toast of season opening productions at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan or the Metropolitan Opera in New York, a featured soloist at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics, or the first classical music artist named to Time magazine’s annual list of the world’s 100 most influential people, Netrebko has consistently distinguished herself inside – and outside – the world of opera. Netrebko’s portrayals of opera’s most iconic heroines demonstrate a remarkable range and artistic sensibility, and her interpretations have spanned Mozart to bel canto to the heroines of Puccini and Verdi. Recently appearing as Turandot at La Scala, later this summer she performs as Tosca at Verona, followed by Nabucco and Il trovatore in Berlin, La bohème in Monte-Carlo, La forza del destino at La Scala, and Ariadne auf Naxos and The Queen of Spades in Vienna.
An exclusive Deutsche Grammophon recording artist since 2003, Netrebko’s extensive discography comprises complete operas, concert repertoire, and numerous bestselling solo albums. Among her awards and distinctions, Netrebko has received three Grammy Award nominations, and the UK’s Classical BRIT Awards for “Singer of the Year” and “Female Artist of the Year”.
“A soprano with star power in the best sense, a charismatic expressivity that pervades every element of her performance”
– Anthony Tommasini, New York Times
