Palm Beach Opera’s high school apprentice program

Program Dates: December 2012 – April 2013
Application Deadline: December 1, 2012  The application deadline for the 2013 season has passed.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE? High school students age 16 or over who are enrolled in a theater or vocal program or who intend to pursue music, theater or technical theater in college or after graduation. Students should be willing to commit to up to 6 hours (including some evenings and weekends) per week.

WHAT IS THE PROGRAM ABOUT? Participants will have behind-the-scenes access to performances and rehearsals, interaction with artists and stage personnel, voice lessons with PBO artistic personnel and visiting artists, and hands-on technical production experience.

HOW DO I APPLY? Submit an application which includes a short essay, teacher recommendations, audition recording (video or audio) and resume of past experience and relevant work.

REQUIREMENTS: All members of PBO Studio must participate in all group class and individual coaching sessions as well as masterclasses and workshops. Additionally each member of PBO Studio must attend three additional masterclasses, one performance of each OOiOH, and all final Dress Rehearsals.

Performance Opportunities:
Members of the PBO Studio are offered the opportunity to be part of a Mainstage and One Opera in One Hour production as supernumeraries.  This opportunity allows members to take part in a professional fully staged operatic production.  Supers are considered part of the cast, and must accept the responsibility of all that being part of the production entails.

Tickets:
For each production members are engaged as supernumeraries, they will receive two tickets for the final dress rehearsal.  Also each member will be offered two additional tickets to each final dress rehearsal to be used by family or friends.
