OPERA @ THE WATERFRONT

OPERA AL FRESCO

Our free outdoor concert is the largest of its kind in Palm Beach County. The concert on December 13, 2014 was attended by over 3,700 people at the Meyer Amphitheatre in downtown West Palm Beach.

We offered an expanded mobile app so that everyone could follow along on their mobile devices during the concert and livestreaming brought the concert directly into homes around the world.

LA BOHÈME

AN ARTISTIC AND BOX OFFICE TRIUMPH

“…its high level of singing and orchestral playing faithfully demonstrated why this score is so beloved, and its satisfyingly realistic staging gave its viewers something to cherish as well as admire.”

THE DAUGHTER OF THE REGIMENT

YOUNG ARTIST TO THE RESCUE!

In a last-minute substitution, Palm Beach Opera Young Artist Bridgette Gan made her mainstage debut as Marie in The Daughter of the Regiment.

WHAT IS A YOUNG ARTIST?

The Benenson Young Artist Program at Palm Beach Opera is a stepping stone to a successful career as an opera singer for post-graduate and emerging singers. During their five-month residency in Palm Beach they develop and polish essential stagecraft and performance skills, aided by musical and career guidance from Palm Beach Opera’s experienced artistic staff.

The Young Artists are Palm Beach Opera’s community ambassadors, performing throughout the area in education and outreach concerts as well as covering lead roles and performing comprimario roles on the mainstage.

CHILDREN’S PERFORMANCE

On Saturday, March 21, the theater was filled with children of all ages and their families excited to experience a live, professional opera performance. The production features a full orchestra and chorus, lavish sets and costumes, and Palm Beach Opera’s talented Young Artists in an abridged 90 minute version perfect for kids.

SENSORY FRIENDLY

In a continued commitment to #OperaForAll, Palm Beach Opera launched a successful Sensory Friendly Initiative this season providing access to Children’s Performance for families with children on the Autism Spectrum.

EDUCATION STATIONS

Once again, the Education Stations were popular amongst children and adults alike! Participants learned about orchestral instruments from Chafin Musicenter, enjoyed music and math time with Boca Raton Children’s Museum, and created works of musical art with Resource Depot.

SPONSORED TICKETS

More than 600 Sponsored Ticket recipients attended Children’s Performance. Fifteen Title I schools and non-profits took advantage of Sponsored Tickets this season including ARC of Palm Beach County, Boys and Girls Club of Wellington and Palm Beach, Cub Scouts, Jupiter Elementary, and Egret Lake Elementary.
